Meet Our Nursing Staff

When telephoning for an urgent appointment with the doctor, the receptionist may ask you to describe the problem and suggest that it would be appropriate to see the nurse.


Fiona O’Shea 
Lead Practice Nurse 


Fiona completed her training at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary in 1988. After working and travelling abroad for 3 years she has worked in general practice firstly in London and then at this practice since 2000. She holds the A51 Specialist Practitioner in general practice and is an independent nurse prescriber. Her special interests are in diabetes and respiratory care. 

Liz Brown

Practice Nurse 


Liz is a specialist nurse practitioner in female health (A51) She qualifies in advanced managment of the menopause has a bio med diploma in menopause management and a ENB family planning certificate along with a Marie Curie certificate in cytology and breast examination certificate she is also family planning trainer. Liz started at CMG in 1991 and specialises in womans health such as contraception, sexual health, pre conceptual care, pre menstrual syndrome, psycho sexual and termination counselling. She helps with management of the menopause including hormone replacement therapy and alternatives, pelvic floor and incontinence and management of patients with osteoporosis. Liz also reviews patients with dementia and learning disabilties.


Catherine O’Hanlon 

Practice Nurse


Cath qualified at St Richard’s hospital in 1985.  She worked in Accident and Emergency for 10 years  and has been a Primary Care nurse at Cathedral medical since 1988.  She has a special interest in Respiratory Disease and minor illness.  Other areas of work include cervical cytology and hypertension. 


Becky Monteith 
Practice Nurse/Infection Control Lead

Becky trained at Westminster in the 1970s and since then has worked up and down the country with a background mostly on Medical Wards. Becky has been at CMG since 2004 and her main interests are the care and prevention of chronic leg ulcers, wound healing, childhood and adult immunisations (including for travel).  Becky also runs a small clinic for cryotherapy to back up the service provided by the doctors. 


Linda Whitfield 

Practice Nurse

After qualifying from Nottingham University, Linda worked at the Derby City General Hospital for several years. She then moved up to Edinburgh to work at the Western General Hospital for 2 years and finally settled with her family in Chichester. Linda joined CMG in 2004 and has since specialised in diabetes, asthma, travel health, minor illness and baby immunisations.



Sue Ullmer

Practice Nurse


Sue worked with adults with learning difficulties for 20 years before qualifying as a nurse at the university of Surrey in 2009, she then spent 2 years as a community nurse before starting with us at CMG in 2011. Sue’s main areas are in childhood immunisations and all treatment room duties and has a special interest in leg ulcer clinics and also assisting in minor surgery.



Christopher Lumley

Practice Nurse


Chris qualified as a nurse in 2015 after training at Surrey University and undergoing his practical training at St Richards. He then went to work in acute Oncology and Haematology at QA Hospital in Portsmouth. Following this Chris moved into community nursing and prior to beginning at the surgery completed his PGDip becoming a Community Specialist Practitioner or District Nurse as it was formally known. He is married, has a young son and a large dog who all use his time up outside of work.




Sarah Hofmann

Health Care Assistant


Sarah has worked in general practice since she was 16 years old, moving from the admin team into a healthcare role 4 years ago and joining the surgery in November 2015. She performs Phlebotomy, ECG’s and has a particular interest in health promotion both for patients with long term health conditions and those participating in the NHS Health check scheme. Sarah also enjoys helping with the Leg Ulcer clinic and developing her knowledge of wound care.




Laura Knowles



Laura worked with children and adults at a special needs school for over 10 years. After having her children she retrained as a phlebotomist. Laura also performs ECG's and is looking forward to developing her role within the nursing team.
